The 3M Club R/C Flyer

October 2003 AMA Club Charter 2036

Next Meeting is on October 20th in BLDG 222.

From the Office of the President:

Some thoughts to my fellow R/C Club members:

First of all I want to thank those of you who have volunteered your time this year to keep the club a functioning machine. Without you I honestly do not think that we would have a club. The end of the year is rapidly approaching and requires us to seriously consider some milestones that require our attention.

To begin with I am looking for officer nominations (President and Vice President) to be completed by the end of this months meeting. The role of the president will be very important next year as they will be responsible to serve as the liaison with the 3M Club during the installation of a new runway. From my conversations so far with club members and based upon attendance of club meetings for the past three months, I am seriously concerned that a lack of leadership is a real possibility. This club is what we make of it. I still need to determine if the treasurer and secretary would like to continue with their positions.

We also need to determine if we are going to have our annual chili fly New Years day. Based upon participation at other events this year, unless we find someone to organize the event I feel we might cancel it for this year. Too few people are serving repeatedly as volunteers at these events and I do not want them to burn out. As always I am sure we will be discussing this.

Elections will be on the agenda for the November meeting. We need to have as many members (especially 3M’ers) present as possible for the election to be valid. We also might want to start talking about plans for next years events.

The December meeting will be our annual holiday party. Is it me, or has the size of this annual event been decreasing every year?

As always I hope that we have a good turnout for the next few meetings. Your participation is what makes this club function. I you would like to discuss any particular issue, please come to the meeting. If possible let me know ahead of time so we can put it into the agenda.

See you Monday,

Travis

3M FLYERS MEMBERSHIP MEETING-SEPTEMBER 15, 2003 BUILDING 222
Members present: Travis Gregar, Dick Rosenquist(Recording Secretary)
President Travis started the meeting promptly at 7:10 PM. A little later than normal waiting for members who might be delayed. This was not to be, so he proceeded opening his scheduled meeting with a total of 6 members being present. This was followed up by August meeting of 4 members present, and the July meeting with only 9 members present. President Travis stated there would be no minutes report of the last meeting due to the fact they couldn’t open a meeting.

Old business: None

New business:

President Travis stated that we should be thinking seriously about the November elections and members should consider taking a variety of offices that are open.
Meeting attendance: The past 3 stated meetings have been a miserable failure due to lack of members being present to discuss the Club’s agenda. With no input there could hardly be a cohesive agreement as to what the Clubs activities or policies will be. Of the few members that were there all felt that this is becoming a serious problem and is effecting the future of the club. It was noted to inform the membership that the next meeting will October 20th at Building 222 at 7:00 PM.
President Travis raised the subject of new runway planning for year 2004. We need input so when it does start we are headed in the right direction and it will accommodate the needs of the Flyers. It was suggested that there is a possibility of lengthening the hard surface of the northwest-southeast runway.
George Stuber, home phone: 651-488-6856, George stated that he has 3M RC Flyer club hats and if you need a shirt, call him.
President Travis closed the meeting at 7:40 PM.
