This issue contains the instructions and application for 2004. Please make sure that your e-mail address is correct, I have been getting a lot of rejections lately.

Next Meeting is on November 17th in BLDG 222.

Dick Rosenquist forwarded this e-mail from the MARCEE group (?) on the schedule for flying in the Metrodome.

In my opinion the session on November 3 was very good. Sorry I missed the MARCEE meeting that night to hear what others thought. With the attendance of seven flyers, all had plenty of opportunity to fly.

New MARCEE member K.J. Maas demonstrated the blimp he flies at Twins and Vikings games, and let Jim Ladwig have a turn at flying it.

Dave Geisler was there at 9:30 and did much of the setup work. Roger Sandhoff took the role of Field Marshall, and everything went in accordance with the published procedures.

Fliers remained aware of and avoided Metrodome workers as they worked on the field, and the workers applauded the manuevers, especially by Gene LeClerc's new plane, and the mid-air between Roger Sandhoff's Slow Stick and Steve Pauley's newest eSKA.

One member has offered to direct one of the sessions next week in my place, and I would not mind if someone else took another. Send me an email at jimladwig@usfamily.net if you want to do that.

3M FLYERS MEMBERSHIP MEETING-OCTOBER 20, 2003
BUILDING 222

MEMBERS PRESENT: Gregar Travis, Doug Kedl, Ken Zieminski, Corky Wald, Dave Brown, Dick Rosenquist(Recording Secretary)
Present Travis opened the meeting promptly at 7:00 PM. He introduced two potential members to the club, 3M’ers Mr. Jim Strum and Mr. Craig Tehse(sp). President Travis called for the reading of the minutes and the finance report. No additions or corrections, approved as read.

Old Business:

President Travis opened a discussion regarding membership and attendance. He stated that the club cannot continue to function with the poor attendance which we have been experiencing at the stated meetings. The club as a whole needs input from its members and greater participation of events in order to stay in a healthy state. He acknowledged that there are a good many people who put in endless hours in specific tasks of the club, such as, field maintenance and general upkeep.

New Business:

One of the major projects for 2004 could be redoing the hard surface runways. A fair amount of discussion was regarding runway length extension and making the grass runway longer. Bernie Kobilka made a motion that the runway should be extended 100 feet. Motion was not seconded, so the motion died for lack of a second. It was felt the existing length of the present black top surface was long enough.
Tom Marson would like to see a new addition with our scheduled meetings in 2004. An example would be like the visitation that was held at Lake Elmo Airport (Lake Elmo Airport Hanger)in 2002, where we had a stated meeting and visitation with the owner of several full sized air craft. Larry Cherry also suggested that we should program some of our meetings to other locations of interest. Those of you who have some ideas on this let Larry know or Tom or the President of your ideas.
Dave Brown stated the Chili Fly is scheduled for January 1, 2004. If you are planning to attend this let Dave know. More to be said at our November meeting.
It was noted that the Tractor is having steering problems and Dave Brown is going to look into the problem and report back to the Club.
Indoor Winter Flying: If you are interested in this type of flying, there was a discussion of whom and where. Two sites looked at are the Humphrey Dome in Minneapolis and a possibility at the Stillwater Dome. There will be more said on this. The electric club (MARCEE) at this writing have used the dome in the last couple weeks For more information talk to Rick Losinski or Corky Wald. They are both active flyers with this group.
2004 Office Nominations: President: Doug Kedl
Vice President: Rick Losinski
Treasurer: Dr. Marco Bommarito
Nominations so far.
Election will be held at the November meeting on the 17th at 7:00 PM Building 222.
December Annual Meeting will be on the 15th, 7:00 PM, Building 222. There will be a change this year, instead of the members bringing treats for our party, the Club will have Pizzas brought in. You will be required to bring your own beverages. Let us all turn out and have a good time.
Show and Tell: Bernie Koblika brought in his repaired wing of the Stinson Model O that we saw on September 16th, 2002 in its completed condition. It had an unfortunate accident and became necessary to rebuild one of the panels and what it took to complete the job. It goes without saying that the finished product by Bernie is to be admired.
It was rumored that Tom Marson is getting the urge for a new home built. If this comes to pass it sounds like it will be a large project and I am sure Tom will keep us posted on this project.

The meeting closed at 8:00 PM with 20 members being present.
