| The 3M Club R/C Flyer November 2003 AMA Club Charter 2036 This issue contains the instructions and application for 2004. Please make sure that your e-mail address is correct, I have been getting a lot of rejections lately. Next Meeting is on November 17th in BLDG 222. For those of you who missed the pictures of the Concorde’s last flight they cam be seen at http://lorendjones.com/concorde Thanks to Bill Friedlander for sending the link Dick Rosenquist forwarded this e-mail from the MARCEE group (?) on the schedule for flying in the Metrodome. In my opinion the session on November 3 was very good. Sorry I missed the MARCEE meeting that night to hear what others thought. With the attendance of seven flyers, all had plenty of opportunity to fly. New MARCEE member K.J. Maas demonstrated the blimp he flies at Twins and Vikings games, and let Jim Ladwig have a turn at flying it. Dave Geisler was there at 9:30 and did much of the setup work. Roger Sandhoff took the role of Field Marshall, and everything went in accordance with the published procedures. Fliers remained aware of and avoided Metrodome workers as they worked on the field, and the workers applauded the manuevers, especially by Gene LeClerc's new plane, and the mid-air between Roger Sandhoff's Slow Stick and Steve Pauley's newest eSKA. One member has offered to direct one of the sessions next week in my place, and I would not mind if someone else took another. Send me an email at jimladwig@usfamily.net if you want to do that.
Mon Nov 3 10 AM to 4 PM JIM LADWIG Tue Nov 25 4 PM to 10 PM CHAD TOWLE * Session depends on the Vikings not using the field that day. We should have heard by now if they will do that. (After the loss to the Packers it seems they should want to do so.) You will hear as soon as I do if there are any cancellations of our flying sessions. -jiml
MEMBERS PRESENT: Gregar Travis, Doug Kedl, Ken Zieminski, Corky Wald,
Dave Brown, Dick Rosenquist(Recording Secretary) Old Business: President Travis opened a discussion regarding membership
and attendance. He stated that the club cannot continue to function
with the poor attendance which we have been experiencing at the stated
meetings.
The club as a whole needs input from its members and greater participation
of events in order to stay in a healthy state. He acknowledged
that there are a good many people who put in endless hours in specific
tasks
of
the club, such as, field maintenance and general upkeep. New Business: One of the major projects for 2004 could be redoing the
hard surface runways. A fair amount of discussion was regarding
runway length extension and making the grass runway longer. Bernie
Kobilka
made a motion that the runway should be extended 100 feet. Motion
was not
seconded, so the motion died for lack of a second. It was felt
the existing length of the present black top surface was long enough. The meeting closed at 8:00 PM with 20 members being present. |
